Wenlock Spring is 'sparkling' after scooping three industry awards


Wenlock Spring has made a splash in a worldwide competition - by scooping a hat trick of awards.

Wenlock Spring have made a splash in a worldwide competition - by scooping a hat trick of awards. 

They scooped three accolades for taste and presentation in the British Bottlers' Institute Drinks Competition 2014. 

The family-run business won two diplomas for the taste of their still and sparkling spring waters  - and another diploma for their packaging.

There was a record number of entries in this year's competition, which attracts drinks producers from across the globe. Drinks are blind tasted by a panel of experts and packaging is judged on its shape, style, type of closure as well as label and design. 

The three awards were presented to Wenlock Spring's Robert Orme and come as Wenlock Spring - who provide still and sparkling waters for the hotel, restaurant, hospitality and specialist retail sectors - celebrate 25 years in business.

Not only are Wenlock Spring environmentally conscious, they also use British-made glass and plastic bottles, which are completed with British-made caps and labels.

Matthew Orme, Director of Wenlock Spring, said: "At Wenlock Spring, we are passionate about our spring water and so to win not one, but three awards, in this competition where standards are so high, is tribute to everyone associated with Wenlock Spring. We are committed to bottling high quality premium water, sourced responsibly and packaged in an attractive yet environmentally conscious way. These awards from the BBI recognise that commitment and we are delighted."

 Ed Binsted, BBI President, said: "This year’s BBI competition was the biggest so far. In the blind tasting this year with many more entries in the Still and Sparkling categories, Wenlock Spring performed extremely well with their quality waters. They topped an excellent result in the tastings, picking up an award in the Packaging class for their family of waters. A lot of care has gone in to the bottle and label design. As Wenlock have been previous winners in the BBI Competition, it was great to see them back as winners again."
